Rotary Club Kardjali - Charting and History

Rotary Club Kardjali was chartered on 1^st October 1996. Our friends from Rotary Club Smolyan acted as sponsor-club and helped us join the Rotary family. Founders of Rotary Club Kardjali were few people who showed what serving to society really means and involved many followers in the Rotary idea. Gradually many professionals in business, medicine, informational technologies etc. who had shown their worth joined the club. They were united by the fact that they all respect and observe the main principles of the Rotarian family and namely do all in their power to dignify their vocations and to promote the highest ethical standards in their chosen vocations and also serving above self to society and people. One of the main tasks of the Rotarians is preparation and implementation of projects aimed at solving social problems like orphans and vulnerable children, environmental defense, national and regional heritage conservation, provide scholarships for worthy and deserving students, international student exchange, donations to the Rotary foundation. In the nine years of its existense Rotary Club Kardjali and its members had always been loyal to the principles of Rotary and did their best in initiating and working on many local, national and international projects.

The charting ceremony of Rotary Club Kardjali took place on 18^th December 1996 at “Arpezos” hotel. The charter was handed to the president of the club Stefan Sirakov by Panayotis Dzumas – District Governor of District 2480. The official constituent meeting took place in April 1996 in the hall of the Regional Council. The ceremonial meeteng was attended by the mayor of Municipality of Kardjali, the Regional governor of Kardjali region, representatives of our sponsor club Smolyan.
